Phase II Environmental Site Assessments
During SGF’s 27 year history, approximately 25% of the phase I environmental site assessments have identified recognized environmental conditions (RECs) that resulted in the performance of a phase II investigation. Phase II investigations are intended to determine the presence or absence of contaminants in the soil and groundwater on a site, and are not intended to delineate the extent of contamination. Although unique circumstances can occur at any site that could lead to the performance of a phase II investigation, the majority of facility types have included:
- Dry Cleaners
- Gas Stations
- Auto Repair Facilities
- Manufacturing & Industrial Facilities
- Golf Courses
- Agricultural Use Sites
Site Assessments
SGF has provided assessment activities delineating the extent of soil and groundwater contamination on various sites in the south and central Florida areas. These assessments have received approval from the applicable regulatory agencies. Consulting services include source removal activities, storage tank closures, site monitoring, and remedial activities resulting in a No Further Action status, where applicable.
Asbestos Surveys
Asbestos surveys, performed under the direction of a Florida licensed asbestos consultant, have been conducted on a wide variety of facility types, for the purposes of obtaining a renovation or demolition permit. Facilities have ranged from 2,000± to over 250,000± square feet and include:
- Retail Centers
- Office Buildings – Public and Private
- Warehouses
- Residential Buildings
- Restaurants
- Bridge Structures
- Airplane Hangars

Radon Gas Measurements
Radon gas measurements and post mitigation testing has been performed at numerous private schools, day care centers, apartment and townhouse complexes throughout the state of Florida, performed under the direction of a certified radon measurement specialist. Schools and day care facilities are tested to meet state and/or Department of Education requirements. At apartment and townhouse communities, the work involves accessing as many as several hundred residential units. Work is conducted so that the potential for inconvenience to children and tenants is minimized.
